1M Sotto la metro is a site and time specific exhibit focused on interactive art organized by Fusolab 2.0, curated by Arianna Forte in collaboration with Flyer and Atac. The project, promoted by Roma Culture, is the winner of the public grant  Contemporaneamente Roma 2020-2021-2022 edited by the Department of Cultural Activities and  implemented in collaboration with SIAE.

Five interactive works and new media art projects  exhibited in five stations of the Metro C in Rome for five days, from 26 to 30 May 2021.
One of these will be selected through a call, to which you can apply for free until 12 pm of  Sunday 02 May 2021. The selected project will be announced on Tuesday 4 May 2021

1M sotto la Metro is an immersive experience, designed to involve the metro public who finally becomes the protagonist of a space  they pass through every day without ever actually experiencing it.
The stations of Metro C become dimensional gates and the exhibited artworks are passages that lead to new points of view on the world and new stops of the imagination.

PROPOSAL

1MSM is looking for an interactive contemporary artwork, that is a project in which the active participation of the viewer is essential, to be included in its artistic program.
Taking into consideration the artistic quality of the dialogue between the level of content and the level of interaction, installations and projects of digital arts and new media are preferred but projects that in any artistic form  address the notion of interactivity can participate.Given the health emergency situation, projects in which the live presence of the artist or a performer is required or in which close contact between several people is expected will not be accepted.

Participants are invited to present projects related to the topic: exploration of the limits of the present time, with reference to the current socio-political situation, the critical implications of the diffusion of new technologies, the relationship between human beings and nature, the dreams and needs shared in this precise historical moment globally.

APPLICATIONS SUBMISSION

To participate in the 1MSM call for projects it is necessary to fill in the form, by 12 pm on Sunday 02 May 2021.
Participation in the announcement and selection are free of charge

The projects will be selected by the 1MSM internal commission, evaluating artistic value and feasibility, and the winner will be communicated privately by Tuesday 4 May 2021.

CONDITIONS

The selected project will have a maximum budget of € 1,000, which can be used for:

• technical production and rental of technical equipment; 
• set up of the project;
• possible transport of the work to the place of exhibition.

Additional costs are taken in charge by the participants.

The commission reserves the right to select more than one project - if considered particularly valid - always falling within an overall budget of 1000 euro.
In case of winning, the selected project must be carried out and / or transported to Rome, at the indicated exhibition location within six days before the start of the event (Friday 21 May 2021).

The work will be exhibited in a Metro C station. The specific location will be communicated and the winner will collaborate with the 1MSM technical team to adapt the set-up to the specific conditions of the exhibition venue.

The selected project will be accessible to the public from 26 to 30 May 2021.
The organization of 1MSM guarantees the winner:

• hardware and software technical support;
• assistance in setting up even remotely;
• publication of the selected work on all official communication.
